Army training is not all sacrifice and compromise. True that it involves a great deal of sacrifice what with all the physical work and strain army training entails. But it is not always like that. One does not go out of the army without any form of recognition.
There are more tangible ways of recognition. There are several ways of recognition, the more common are the emotional rewards and the tangible recognition. Emotional rewards involve being recognized as a hero. It can also be seen as society’s way of thanking their heroes: a recognition of their efforts and sacrifices. This is something which can not be bought but the effects can be very rewarding. Tangible rewards involve monetary compensation, medals of valor, and college credit.
Military training can be used for college credit. Because army training is not all about the push-ups, the sit-ups and the drills. Of course, one goes into study while training as well. The military transcript is a testament to this.
In order to be able to get college credit for military training the following must be fulfilled:
- There must be a military transcript which documented the course.
- The military subjects intended to be credited for college credit must be similar or matched to the school’s courses.
- The American Transfer of Credit (ACE) must be credited.
Transcripts can be acquired from the following: the Coast Guard, the Air Force, Army American Council, Marine American Council.
